Trays for tubes of paint
This tray and one other replaces a keyboard tray that I have been using for almost two years. I was having trouble in a "loose" tube arrangement with all of the tubes of a color sort of piled up in an open area of the keyboard tray.
Melissa (my wife) and I were browsing through an "antique" store and I saw a tray that printer used to store their letters (upper case and lower case?). The store wanted over $100.00 and wouldn't lower their price AT ALL!
So, when I thought about the idea for a while I decided to make my own. The photo is my second tray - better than the first. Isn't that the way? Anyhow, the tray is approximately 29 inches wide and approximately 15 inches deep. It has three dividers 5 inches apart across the width and 14 dividers front to back.that are 1 5/8 inches apart. Except for the left-most "bay" which is about two inches wide.
I like so much when everything is in order! But somehow it usually turns back into chaos so quickly when I paint :-)). Clever hands!
ReplyDeleteIrina, chaos is exactly what I've been dealing with! :-) When I wanted a particular color, I might find it quickly or it would (probably) be the last one I looked at. I've begun putting them in order of colors, dark to light. We'll see how long that lasts! :-)

You are a peril! hahaha... So, you like it, you make it, that's the way I'd like to do it too, but I'm not that handy, sigh :)
ReplyDeleteThe tray looks so useful. Congratulations, Sir!
Hugs to you and Melissa,
Carolina
Carolina, my "problem" is that I DO NOT like to spend money on something that I think that I can build myself. :-) I call it thrifty, my family says that I'm just a cheapskate. ha ha ha

Hi Ken, Glad I came upon your page today, there is a lot to learn here! I have been scattering all my paint tubes around and was not feeling good about it.. this is a lovely idea you have made to keep the chaos under control!
